Wedding Transportation Trends Drive Guests Via Air, Land, and Sea
Tradition shows that wedding transportation has most often consisted of limousines for the bridal party and guests using their own separate vehicles to drive to the wedding venue. With so many vehicles in motion—all headed to the same destination at the same time—this scenario created possible bottlenecks in traffic and parking issues. It also created the potential for guests to miss the all-important arrival of the bride and groom. However, this is no longer the accepted standard as new trends in wedding transportation continue to emerge, with innovative transportation choices that allow guests to be less hurried and more included in the couple’s special day.
As part of the extensive to-do list for any wedding plan, transportation is often found at the lower part of the list, after what are typically considered the most important items such as locking in a venue, choosing a dress, and arranging for flowers and photography. After all, if arranging transportation is overlooked, bridal party members and guests can just drive themselves or take an Uber or Lyft to the wedding, right? Sure, but consider the amount of chaos and confusion this could cause, with many people arriving potentially disheveled and most certainly stressed out instead of relaxed and eager to share the happiness of the wedding.
Today’s couples are looking to eliminate any stress caused by wedding transportation with many all-inclusive and fun options that allow guests to be transported to wedding venues via air, land, and sea. According to wedding industry experts, limousines will always be a popular standard for wedding transportation; however, other modes of all-inclusive venue transport are quickly rising in popularity for their convenience and guest consideration. Among the hottest trends today are trolleys, repurposed buses, party buses, shuttles, airplanes, and boats. All of these transport options offer collective guest transportation to and from wedding venues, leaving guests only to focus on their enjoyment of the day.
As a popular destination wedding location, Indian River County (IRC) offers as many transportation options as wedding venues. For transporting wedding guests, couples can choose a bus or shuttle to pick-up and bring guests to their venue, or they can bring the venue to the guests with an option to transport guests to a wedding at sea on a sailboat or yacht. For smaller weddings and larger budgets, airplanes are also becoming a popular option for wedding guest transport as well. Such all-inclusive options allow wedding guests to collectively take part in all aspects of the day—from when they are picked up, through the ceremony and related events, and then returned to their point of origin at the end of the day. Wedding professionals point out that growing numbers of brides and grooms favor the collective transport options, especially after many hours and perhaps many cocktails, when no guest should consider driving back home.
At Treasure Coast Rides, located in Vero Beach, they provide wedding transportation throughout Florida. When asked about the current trends and changes they are seeing, the owner reported that while changes in transportation preferences are happening more frequently, some things do remain the same.
“Right now, SUVs are the most popular choice for wedding transportation, along with limo party vans. Even though stretch limos are still popular with certain age groups, they are becoming much more obsolete with other age groups.”
In agreement with Treasure Coast Rides is Vero Beach Taxi & Limo, as well as Luxury Limousines, both of which also noted the shift from limousines as a traditional top-pick for wedding transportation to SUVs and vans. Among larger wedding parties and/or guest numbers, the most popular choices currently are motor coaches and touring-sized buses.
When it comes to the transportation of wedding parties and guests, the most important thing to remember is something that should never be forgotten: communication. Couples should communicate any transportation options or secured arrangements with everyone who plans to attend as a guest or as a member of the wedding party. This helps to ensure everyone is on the same page from the beginning, leaving no room for wedding-day confusion. Once guests know how they will be arriving at the wedding venue, they can focus on thoughts of being transported by the couple’s love and events of the wedding day.
